As we reach mid autumn here in Minnesota our seed collecting activity is slowing down somewhat and our cleaning and preparing seed for storage and sharing takes center stage. This season we’ve added 300 new members and are on track to harvest more species than last year despite the continuing summer drought trend. This week wrapped up our public seed collecting events with a final visit to Monarch City Thursday Morning where we gathered for late season harvesting of corepsis, milkweed, rosinweed and other species that are slow to ripen this year.
