Guess who finally remembered to write up the weekly report. Week 7 produced 48 observations from 10 species of raptors. This brings the project's total observation count to 279. Keep up the good work folks!
Out of the 48 submissions, the one that particularly captured my mind was @cgates326 photo of a Swainson's Hawk near Powell Butte, Oregon. Also called the Grasshopper Hawk, they rely on the grasshopper swarms as their primary prey source when they winter in Argentina. They will be gone in just a few weeks so photograph them while you can!

In other news, I noticed today that we've had a high submission of Burrowing Owls this year. I doublechecked and it's true! This year, 6 Burrowing Owls have been reported, while every preceding year combined only come up with 6 observations. Maybe we'll find a few more!
