North section - 03/30/2022

Wednesday, 9:15-11:45 no live newts. 180 dead newts
I walked with Jim
Weather: nice. Rained on Sunday and Monday
Coverage: from the Jones Trailhead parking lot to the second stop sign.
Newts: we documented 104 newts on the hill side, and 76 on the reservoir side. A few were very fresh, most were dry. At least 8 were juveniles, some very tiny. Is this a second wave of juvenile movement?
We saw the CA newt egg clusters in the little pond by Limekiln trail, some were more developed, and water level was higher.
Other roadkills: Tylobolus millipede, centipede, caterpillar, fence lizard, Ring-necked Snake.
Traffic: 20 cars, 6 trucks, 4 motorcycles, 3 bikes, 1 pedestrian, 4 parked cars (1 car in the farthest parking lot).
