I was trained as a botanist and plant physiologist in Scotland (St Andrews University), the US (Rutgers University, NJ) and Canada (Carleton University, Ottawa). Since retiring, and the advent of digital photography and the internet, I have become increasingly interested in insects, particularly moths. I try to document the organisms in my immediate environment and to contribute to various citizen science projects (Moth Photographers Group, BugGuide and iNaturalist).
