Life is Amazing!!!!

Even the humblest plants have incredible features if one can see them at a certain magnification, angle, season, or with beautiful lighting. I just found a new aspect to the nasturtium: the seeds, once fallen on moist ground, begin to lose their seed coats. When only the first layer falls off, the second layer looks like a kind of vein-like helmet over the seed! Great pattern! They hide in the soil under the plants in the fall; I had to search carefully for awhile before I started noticing them! The fresh ones are easy to see because they're light green, the ones that have lost their first seed coat layer are brown, so easy to miss!
