Dryad's saddle journal

Dryad's saddle (also known as Pheasant's-back) is a polypore fungus that is common and grows throughout the world. It grows on both living and dead hardwood trees, causing white rot. Its role when growing on living trees could be considered parasitic because it feeds off of the trees and causes rot, while it is simply a decomposer when growing on dead trees. Dryad's saddle is edible, but it is only good to eat when it is very young, and it is said to have a tough texture.

Black locust journal

Black locust (robinia pseudoacacia) is of the genus robinia in the family Fabaceae, which includes many flowering plants. Robinia includes deciduous trees and shrubs. On the phylogenetic tree, black locust is near mescal bean, clammy locust, and roseacacia. All of the species observed in this project do not necessarily have an adaptation in common, as some are shrubs, some are deciduous trees, and some are coniferous trees. One specific adaptation of the black locust is its thorns, which serve to discourage consumers.
