On Canyon Live Oak- of which there are many. A short 1.5 mile walk took 2.5 hours!! And Gall Week is over! Thanks @newtpatrol and @garth_harwood and others for mentioning galls up here. It’s been a favorite hike locale for decades, but only recently for galls.
I thought maybe they were teeny tiny Red Cones at first on this small Valley Oak at the trail junction- which always seems to have some ever-changing gall action going on.
Pretty tiny ones on Leather Oak. I was astounded at the amount of galls here of various types.
I made the unintentional mistake trip down my fave mini-trail and saw way too many Beaked Twiggers on Leather Oaks.
So many amazing Beaked Twig Galls this year on Leather Oaks!
On large Valley Oak next to Fernside St.
On Valley Oak.
A lot of it in this sloping meadow.
