Seen between Duffy Lake and Seton Lake on BC Hwy 99.

Large B&W ‘YellowJacket’ with a mostly black back. The markings make it look related to the Alaskan Yellowjacket, but without colour. I wonder if diet or habitat changed it.
Landed facing morning sun, and reflected light on rear-end.
Front end angled downward on a cedar shingle wall. Appeared to be resting, maybe thirsty. Didn’t budge when I photographed up close from above.
Insects seem to visit more when plants have been freshly watered.
