Spotted while walking the Horned Lark Trail in Zumwalt Prairie Preserve.
Couldn't get a underwing photo as every time it landed it closed its wings. Seen just flitting and resting on the transcanada trail near Othello tunnels provincial park
Same butterfly observed on 4 different plants. Feeding on moss phlox and dames rockets, resting on black raspberry leaves (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/219895840) and dogwood leaves (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/219897288)
DSF BIMBY Incidental Observation: Butterfly resting on damp (freshly watered) garden soil. Conditions: Partly sunny. Temp: 21°C RH: 25%. Wind: WSW 6 kph. Vis: 24 km. No Plant ID with this observation.
15’c mostly cloudy (between rain systems). River Run. In the field appeared to possibly be nectaring. Never ever expected to see much of anything, particularly one of these in this particular greenspace!
A male with claspers open in some pictures, closed in others. It remained on the stalk of a dandelion, wings staying in an open position, next to a fading dandelion flower, for some time, and all the pictures were taken using a zoom lens; when I moved to try for a head-on shot it flew away. On a hayfield with open and gone-to-seed dandelions. A mostly sunny morning, no wind, 20 % C.
