Favoritos de whistlingduck

We found this right above one of our tents in Mahoora Tent Camp near Wilpattu during the Quest Nature Tour I was leading. Seen by Graham and Sharon Nancekivell and myself. We heard it do a high pitched call first. It was surprisingly fast as it scrabbled through the branches. Probably my favourite sighting of the trip!

2 youngsters! I was walking by what I always suspected to be a Groundhog burrow, when I saw this brave (baby) fox looking at me from on top of the burrow (you can see the mound of the burrow under his/her feet). I watched him shuffle around a little for about 5 minutes, when his/her brother/sister walked out of the burrow. This little one walked back into the forest and started playing (about 4 meters from the burrow) out of sight. After a while, they both went back into the burrow and I didn't see them for the rest of the day. I hope to find them again! The whole time I was photographing they didn't show any signs of fear, and I stayed about 4m back (how far the trail was from the den). I'm going to be adding more pictures to the observation so let me know if you want me to tag you when I do.

This migrating warbler flew over our boat and sat on the water. When we moved closer to it to "rescue" it and bring it onboard it took flight and headed away.

Red-winged Blackbird
near Stewardson, Illinois

I'm posting this record just for the general interest of a Red-winged Blackbird with one white wing. Whether a partial albino, or a partial leucistic bird, I'm not sure. A local farmer told my wife and me that this bird had been on his farm for three summers. The bird left in the fall with the other Red-wingeds and came back in the spring. I watched it for about 30 minutes. It vocalized like any other Red-winged BB and interacted with other Red-wingeds normally. It was pretty flashy to see in flight, however. Three shots posted. These images scanned from old color slides.

in the absence of a trunk or stone to lean on, a capybara may be an option;
I have observed these two individuals do this twice;
