Jul 31 - 2000+ species
We did it! We surpassed 2000 species for this project. Thanks everyone!!
We did it! We surpassed 2000 species for this project. Thanks everyone!!
A new milestone to note. As well, we are heading toward 2,000+ species. We are only 38 species shy of that goal.
We exceeded 1,600 species today. And we still have 2 more months of potential observations. Wow! A new standard has been set.
Jonny ended with 647 species - the most!
As a group, we ended with 1480 species. At present that is second of all years and only 125 short of tying for the most in a 12 month period... and we have nearly 3 months left.
We reached a milestone today. It's going to be very hard to match this pace in future years. What a challenge we've set. Now we are off and running to pass 1,700 species before the end of August 2023.
Among our 1000 species we have:
390 plants
227 insects (lots more to add next summer)
235 fungi (only 79 are lichens)
59 birds (we should be able to double this)
31 arachnids
20 mammals
8 amphibians
7 ray-finned fishes (we should be able to get many, many more)
etc
The most species in the first 30 days of our Wolf Ridge projects! In 2019, we recorded 655 species by Sep 30. Wow! We are headed towards a higher total number of species for the year. Can we do it? Our next goal... reach or exceed 1000 species by February 20, 2023.
