Waima Watercare Project Sites Ecology

The purpose of this project page is to record any sightings of unique or significant native flora & fauna at the Watercare Manuka Road/Woodlands Park Road project sites in Waima, where Watercare is proposing to build a massive new water treatment plant that will see this area cleared for construction.

The area starts from the Woodlands Park Rd turn off at Scenic Drive and goes all the way down to Waima Cres on one side, and down to Manuka Rd on the other - where Clark Bush Track is a good access point. The area we are interested in does not include the existing Huia Filter Station. Permission from Watercare should be sought before entering any areas that are not open to the public.

Care should also be taken not to risk the spread of Kauri Dieback Disease - there is cleaning solution available at either end of Clark Bush Track.

This is a significant ecological area so having all ecological observations in one place will be helpful in our efforts to convince Watercare they can't clear the bush here - destroying native trees & wildlife habitats. menos ↑
