NB "The Annexe" doesn't include "Canopy below the Annexe " or the annexe kikuyu margin or Annexe/Clearing (Glade) margin
In June 2018 there were numerous small and one large pampas growing under ther manuka canopy below the Annexe, and one very large pampas clump on the outer margin of the Annexe, in line with, and appearing to be part of, the planting.
This large stand of pampas is being reduced manually and mulched as convenient and accessible with its own foliage, until it rots or is weak enough to uproot.
It has already provided a good deal of valuable mulch which has suppressed many aggressive herb and grass weeds in the Annexe until they became weak enough to uproot. The mulch is moved from one spot to another as required, while the dead woody bases of each clump are maintained as non-slip ground cover in the lower part of the annexe, which puddles in wet weather.
This large pampas is being retained at present also to continue to border the Annexe against trampling of the revegetation as it arises.
