Nature, particularly prairie ecology, has interested me since my childhood in south-central Nebraska where I love watching the sandhill crane migration along the Platte River. I moved to Texas for a job in the 1980s until I retired and returned to Nebraska.
I'm also interested in insects, having sometimes wished that I had picked entomology or biology instead of journalism for a career.
I am a Nebraska Master Naturalist and previously certified as a Texas Master Naturalist with the Coastal Prairie Chapter.
