Great Backyard Bird Count

This weekend, February 14-15-16-17, we have the opportunity to dovetail with another long-running citizen-science program, the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC). Enter your sightings through the eBird portal as well as into iNaturalist - http://gbbc.birdcount.org/. The GBBC provides a continent-wide late-winter snapshot of bird populations.

Sequoia Audubon has two field trips scheduled in the county for this weekend. For all the details, check the website here - http://www.sequoia-audubon.org/fieldtrips.html

Friday, February 14, Donald Pendleton will lead three mini-trips across the day, starting at Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay at 9:00 am.

Saturday, February 15 - Garth Harwood and Jennifer Rycenga will co-lead a sea-watch trip at Pigeon Point south of Pescadero along SR1. Meet at the observation platform beyond the lighthouse at 8:00 am, or drop by anytime between 8:00 am and noon, and help us look for seabirds, Marbled Murrelets, rocky sandpipers, and more! This is a rare opportunity for beginners to learn some of the basics of sea-watching. Please bring a scope if you have one!

These are all free and open to naturalists of all ages and abilities.
