Eco-description: |
soils - the Woodridge soils west of Pocock Lake are excessively drained and gently sloping. The Lonesand-Kerry Complex east of the Woodridge soils area is low lying and poorly drained. East of this is Deep Peat area which is stone free and very poorly drained. Sandilands Series starts west of PR 404 and continues east of this road to an ancient beach ridge with excessive drainage. topography - from the ancient beach ridge on the east side of the reserve, the land slopes noticeably towards the west, to Pocock Lake. vegetation - from east to west the vegetation changes from Jack Pine (Pinus banksiana) through White Birch (Betula papyrifera) to Trembling Aspen (Populus tremuloides), Balsam Poplar (Populus balsamifera), Black Spruce (Picea mariana), Willow (Salix spp.), Eastern White Cedar (Thuja occidentalis), and Tamarack (Larix laricina). Labrador-tea (Ledum groenlandicaum), Dwarf Birch (Betula glandulosa), Bulrushes (Scirpus spp.), and Sedges (Carex spp.) occur in the understory. |
Outstanding Features: | bog lake, beach ridge, and gradation of natural vegetation from moisture tolerant to drought tolerant species. |

Protective Status: | degree - rigorous

Access: | Provincial Roads #210 and #404. Travel within the reserve is allowed only by persons on foot. |
