My wife and I moved back to the North Country in 2019, finding just the right place in Lancaster, NH. We are not new to the larger area. I have worked, lived and/or owned property in the Berlin/Gorham/Shelburn/Pinkham Notch area since the late 60s. Yes, I am that old!
Recently I learned about the invasive plant, Japanese knotweed, also known as Fallopia japonica, Reynoutria japonica (R. japonica), and Polygonum cuspidatum (P. cuspidatum). And then I learned there were members of the Conservation Commission in Lancaster, NH who were interested in ways to control this invasive species.
INaturalist was recommended as a means of cataloguing and sorting our observations of Japanese knotweed growth.
So, here we are. Logging in observations of Japanese knotweed growth in Lancaster, New Hampshire and environs.
Proudly a Knotweed (Ninja, or Buster)!
