Though I tend to focus on birds, I also try to document the other vertebrates, insects, plants, and fungi I find. I've been birding in Louisiana since 2005 and sampled riverine turtles, particularly map turtles and alligator snapping turtles, during graduate school. I worked in the City of Lake Charles Recreation and Parks department, both in environmental education and conservation projects. Through my involvement with the Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalists, I've become more interested in the plants of Cajun prairie, fish, invertebrates, fungi, and other organisms of Louisiana.

I currently work for the International Crane Foundation as the Whooping Crane outreach coordinator in Louisiana, where our work is focused on reducing shootings of Whooping Cranes through education and awareness.
