Hello, my name is Hannah Floyd. You might know me from my other iNaturalist account @hannahfloyd_naturalist. This is an account specifically for an observational study that I will be running this summer. I am an incoming senior in the IB program at a high school in Boulder, Colorado. Part of the IB program's requirements is that students write a 4,000-word paper on a certain subject. More information can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/mpew4u9x. I am conducting my research on the Four-spotted Moth, Tyta luctuosa. I will be observing this species at Waneka Lake and my backyard and documenting what plants they are seen on. I am observing IB's ethical guidelines, and in no way will I be causing any harm or distress to the organisms. I will be observing them and taking pictures with my camera. Tyta luctuosa was introduced into Colorado to control bindweed, but so far this effort has been largely ineffective. I will document which plants I observe the moth on for a 10 day-period from May 30, 2022 to June 8, 2022 between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm. I will then compare my data with the much larger data set from the entire state of Colorado. Please message me if you have any questions.
