Found this guy a few days ago. I’ve never found a salamander in the Sacramento area before in the 5 years I’ve been here, and this guy really struck me as being different from California Slender Salamanders. The body was just too thick and the legs were also. Could this be a Hell Hollow Slender Salamander?

Every year at this time I always see a couple males but I’ve never seen any carpenter ant workers or queens, let alone a colony near me.

Caught the female of two bass that live in a puddle by the river with their fry. Together as a family they torment the mosquito fish along the banks of the puddle.

Found this juvenile wiggling at full speed across the trail. Was safely transported to a log on the other side.
