Near my house I went on a walk just before the sun was setting. The wildfires made the sky still a little bit smoky so the sky wasn't as clear as usual. I was on a road and farther off the path there was a little creek that ran through. It was interesting to see how diverse the plants were that I saw. I saw all kinds of trees, flowers, grasses, and ferns even though they were in a relatively short distance from each other. I also noticed that some plants were just beginning to bloom whereas others already had.

I went on a walk at a park by my house and was surprised by the variety of native plants to Minnesota. Not only were there a variety of flowers and grasses but also various insects and birds. There was an old barn in the field that I walked to and found more grasses in the shaded areas. There was a nice breeze for the hot afternoon sun. The grasses and tall wheats were flowing in the wind. It was a perfect afternoon walk. It was nice to step back and appreciate nature during the business of summer. I had never been to that park before and it was neat to see all the different trees and other people enjoying the park and nature walks as well.
Referencing the photos, I walked to the barn and noticed a butterfly flying around some of the flowers. The purple and yellow flowers had a lot of bees around it whereas the grasses had so visible insects surrounding it. It was really interesting to see some of the purple flowers because they were everywhere. I’m pretty sure it’s one of the native plants to Minnesota so it was interesting to see how prevalent and abundant it was.
