Lecture weekly assignment-03--observe and record

I found these insects and plants near a dirt road close to my home. They were kind of hard to see because they almost blended into their habitat but I thought they were interesting. I saw them on Tuesday, September 14th , 2021 on my way home from school. The habitat was dusty and there were lots of rocks and short stemmed plants, a perfect place for little insects and spiders to hide.

Lecture weekly assignment-01--an experience with insects

During this last summer, I worked at a restaurant in Coeur d'Alene Idaho called Le Peep. A beautiful location with great outside dining along the Spokane River made it a very popular location, and we were often busy. Every year, during the peak of summer and towards the end (roughly between July and early September) we always have a minor bee problem. For the last five years I've worked there, it's been an issue. The bees would swarm people's food as soon as it was brought to the table, and they especially loved the trout, oddly enough. This year, however, was a little different. They were much more aggressive and persistent about getting their food. We even had a few cases of people being stung, which I never saw happen until this year. If you recall, this summer, we had a ridiculous heat wave. In CD'A, there was a week where we hit 110 degrees Fahrenheit. This made me wonder. Can heat have an effect on bees behavior? Does it make them more likely to lash out? Are there any other factors that would come into play that would make bees more aggressive?
