Week 10 Journal Post

We did not take pictures of any species this week because we didn't see anything besides plants and birds (the birds would fly away). We went to the beach at sunset but it was too dark to take pictures. I also went to visit my cousins in Mt. Shasta and went to Lake Siskiyou, but didn't get pictures of any species. All of the animals would run away from us because the little boys were really loud.

Week 9 Trip Planning

We did not go anywhere this week because we have all the phyla we need. We want to go to the Fitzegerald Marine Reserve or Mt. Tam to find at least one more phyla just to be safe.

Week 8 Obsevation Post

This week we went to San Bruno Mountain and saw a rabbit, a slug, a mushroom, and a few other animals, which we couldn't get a picture of. We also went to China Beach on Friday when it was low tide. We had to keep avoiding the waves so we wouldn't get trapped. We saw mussels, seaweed, sea anemones, crab, and seagulls.

Week 7 Trip Observations

Yesterday we quickly stopped by the beach to see if we would be able to get pictures of any animals. There were not as many as usual, but we did find a couple species. The tiny sand crab was perfect to photograph because it hadn't been torn up by seagulls and wasn't within reach of the water yet. We also saw seagulls and tried to get as close to them as possible. We will be making a trip to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve soon.

Week 6 Observations

We went to Wunderlich County Park this Friday, and saw a lot of different plants, wild turkey, and deer. We also saw birds but weren't able to take pictures of them because they were too far and whenever we would try to get closer they would fly away. The path was a bit slippery in some places because of the mud, but everything looked and smelled amazing. It was so cool to look at the ginormous redwoods.

Week 5 Observation Post

This week we went to Pier 39 to see the sea lions. There were so many of them, and they were very entertaining. They kept fighting with each other and jumping off into the water and getting back on the planks. We also saw a lot of seagulls, but had trouble taking clear photos of them. We might go to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve today, it just depends on whether or not we will have time.

Week 4 Observation Trip Planning

I forgot to upload my notes from week 4. Because of the midterm and a busy rest of the week, we were not able to go out this week. But we planned to go to Pier 39 the following Friday. We are also hoping to go to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve sometime soon, as we really need to find animals to take pictures of.

Week 3 Outing Journal

On Friday we walked through the Presidio to Baker beach and then briefly went to Golden Gate Park. We mostly saw lichen except we saw one big white mushroom in a path that went from the presidio to baker beach. Though we still haven't uploaded the pictures we took I am hoping to go to Pier 39 this week and see the seals.

Week 2 Observation Outing Notes

My sister and I went on a walk in San Bruno mountain and saw lots of ferns, ivy, nasturtiums, and many other plants. We also saw a few birds and a couple of raccoons but we couldn't get close enough to take any pictures. They would just run away. Next time we will either go to Pier 39 to take pictures of the seals when my sister gets off work, or we will wake up earlier and go to a trail by our house.

Observation and Planning

This weekend I went to the San Francisco Arboretum, also known as San Francisco Botanical Gardens, in Golden Gate Park, where pianos were scattered all about and were being played by various musicians and guests. We loved walking around while listening to music. I saw bamboo trees, lots of ferns, roses, lavender, and many other plants and trees from all over the world. I was not able to take a picture but would like to go back this coming weekend. My sister and I may also we will try to go to San Bruno mountain for a hike and observation. This time we will take pictures.
