This species is not uncommon at this locality. I have seen them on several occasions, they are just really hard to get pictures of.

Unable to get picture of back before it flew away. Back was very unusual, appears as if it had brown and white striping on its back. Could not determine if it had red tail or not.
Looks like there is some kind of marking band around its ankle in the photos

Males engaging in homosexual copulation. Thought it was a male acting aggressive towards another male until it was noticed the receiving male was exhibiting a mating posture and spreading tail feathers.

The photo is a humming bird together with a tiger swallowtail butterfly, the size proportion is illustrative in this photo . Actually they were not afraid from one another as both were finding thier food sufficiency as small creatures !!

Three individuals, fighting in the undergrowth. I got a decent look at them when they swooped through the understory, definitely a small hawk. Only was able to get good pictures of one, as they were all roosting up high in the canopy.
